The goal of the Jacksonville Journal-Courier's Newspapers In Education program is to encourage and support the use of newspapers in the classroom as a tool for promoting literacy and to maintain a program that will inform and involve students, while inspiring them to learn more about the world around them.
Our N.I.E. program is committed to providing educational service and content to students, teachers, and the community. The program is grounded in the belief that reading the newspaper is an essential component to good citizenship.
Newspapers In Education was established to help both the illiterate and aliterate, those who cannot read and those who can read but choose not to.
