Cross-country cyclists stop in Jacksonville

Illinois College officials and employees greeted 27 Johns Hopkins University students and friends Sunday afternoon as they rode into campus on bikes following an 103-mile trek from Bloomington.
Jacksonville is one of 51 scheduled stops for participants in the Hopkins 4K for Cancer cross-country trek. The 4,000-mile cycling trip started in Baltimore May 26 and will end in San Francisco near the end of July.
The organization hopes to spread awareness, raise funds and foster hope in the fight against cancer. This summer marks the group’s sixth cross-country trip.
